So if your return train from London to Manchester costs \u00a360, you pay \u00a340.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This can seriously add up over time if you use the train network frequently. And even if you don\u2019t, just a few uses will more than pay for the price of a railcard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can use railcards both when buying tickets online, and also at train stations 365 days a year and includes trains on London metro services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Usually you pay around \u00a330 for a one year railcard or \u00a370 for three years\u2026 but currently there\u2019s a code that gets you 33% off the price of one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Entering the code <strong>33NEWTERM<\/strong> at the checkout of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetrainline.com\/trains\/great-britain\/railcards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Trainline website<\/a> will reduce the price of your railcard to \u00a320 for one year, or \u00a347 for three years &#8211; which is a great deal!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re approaching renewal of your railcard, now might also be a good time with the discount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This offer applies to the following railcards:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Network Railcard (London and the South East for any adult)<\/li><li>16-17 Railcard<\/li><li>16-25 Railcard<\/li><li>26-30 Railcard<\/li><li>Family &amp; Friends Railcard (Up to 4 adults and 4 children traveling together)<\/li><li>Two Together Railcard (2 named people travelling together)<\/li><li>Senior Railcard (Over 60s)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why should I care?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The cost of travel is high right now (whether it\u2019s car or train), so anything you can do to cut down the costs is a good thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have a railcard, using it online is as simple as clicking one button to reduce the price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is one of the cheapest times to get a railcard, so now is a good time to get one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What\u2019s the catch?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re aged between 30-60, it might be trickier for you to get a railcard and money off travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Network Railcard is a good option if you live around London, or if you have a spouse that you always travel with, then you can benefit &#8211; but of course it\u2019s not as straight forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What other options do I have?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you wanted to get cheaper train tickets on longer journeys, it\u2019s worth looking at split ticketing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Say you were traveling from London to Edinburgh on the train &#8211; you might actually get a better deal by purchasing a one way ticket from London to Newcastle, and another separate ticket on the same train from Newcastle to Edinburgh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It might sound longwinded, but you wouldn\u2019t have to leave your seat, and it could save you a lot on your ticket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where can I find out more?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To get the railcard and the discount, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetrainline.com\/trains\/great-britain\/railcards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">head over to the Trainline website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Photo by <a href=\"https:\/\/unsplash.com\/@silverringvee?utm_source=unsplash&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_content=creditCopyText\">Silver Ringvee<\/a> on <a href=\"https:\/\/unsplash.com\/s\/photos\/trains?utm_source=unsplash&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_content=creditCopyText\">Unsplash<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you travel by train more than three times per year, it\u2019s worth getting a railcard.
